Crater Lake NP Ski Patrol Volunteer Opportunities
Crater Lake Ski Patrol is looking for volunteers to collaborate with the Crater Lake National Park staff to provide information to visitors, maintain winter trails, and assist ranger personnel with Emergency and Search/Rescue incidents. Volunteer Ski Patrollers serve the 183,000 acres of Crater Lake National Park. Patrollers are expected to project a friendly and professional image while performing a variety of functions, such as:
- Providing visitor contact and information
- Patrolling ungroomed backcoutry ski trails
- Preventative Search and Rescue
- Maintaining Ski Patrol, medical and SAR equipment, and Park trails
Training for Backcountry Ski Patrol at Crater Lake National Park begins the first weekend of December. Patroller commitment includes:
- All patrollers are required to attend two separate weekend trainings at Crater Lake (Dec. 6-7 and Dec. 13-14)
- All patrollers must volunteer at least 6 days during the winter season
- All patrollers will be require to have at least a current First Aid and CPR/AED certificate
