Ski Pants for Deegan – Ski with the Blind
The annual XC Ski with the Blind program is just around the corner (Maceh 6-7) and Deegan, one of the blind skiers, has a coat but needs ski pants. He is a special order at 5’2.25” and 203lbs. He wears a 36” waist and 32 long. In fact, the School for the Blind can likely put good use to lightly used ski clothes that you or your kids have outgrown. If anyone can help, please let Adrienne Fernandez at Washington State School for the Blind know.
The Ski with the Blind program is organized and run by the US Forest Service and Teacup Nordic with major help from the Mountain Shop, ONC-Gorge Chapter, Hood River Ski Team, and others. This annual program brings 30-50 sight-impaired school-age kids who attend the Washington State School for the Blind out to Teacup for a day of fun on XC skis, and a lot of snowball throwing (make a noise and you’re a target). Richard Fay of Teacup Nordic does most of the organizing of volunteers, so email Richard (rrfay@comcast.net) if you’re interested to be included on his volunteer list for the future.
