Question: To join your club where do I find a membership form?
Answer: Please click on the SONC Membership Form link found on our chapter’s home page to be taken to an application.
Question: How often do you meet for club meetings?
Answer: We usually meet monthly, November – April. We will be meeting in person during the 23-24 season! See the calendar for meeting times and location. Members will be notified by email.
Question: What is the cost to join the Southern Oregon Nordic Club?
Answer: For the 2023-24 ski season the cost for all members (new and returning) is $20 which includes the Oregon Nordic Club (ONC) annual membership dues.
Question: I am a beginner–do you offer lessons?
Answer: We have had volunteer club members that offer free group ski lessons/tours for beginners. If trail conditions and leader availability allow, small group ski outings that note skill level will be announced by email to current members. Question: Where to meet for ski tours? Click on the SONC Trails link and then on SONC Lessons/Tours Sno-Park/Meeting Places and SONC Lessons/Tours Meeting Places Map.
Question: Do you welcome children?
Answer: Yes, we do with an accompanied adult.
Question: Where can I rent ski’s?
Answer: Currently SONC Friends of the Ski Community rental shops include Get n’ Gear, Ashland, and Blackbird, Medford.
Question: Where do I find the club information?
Answer: Go to our website at: onc.org/sonc
Question: I am new to the area. Can you tell me places to ski?
Answer: We recommend looking at our list of trails. You can also purchase a Jackson-Klamath Winter Trails Guide to find locations. Maps may be purchased at the Bureau of Land Management office in Medford or at some of our local ski shops.
Question: Where can I skate ski?
Answer: SONC volunteers groom Buck Prairie and Hyatt Lake trails for both skate and classic skiing when conditions are sufficient for grooming. Click on the SONC Trails and SONC Grooming Updates on the left side of our webpage. Also the Klamath Basin Snowmobile Club grooms and maintains over 300 miles of trails which are generally lightly used. Check their website for updates: http://www.kbsnowdrifters.org/groomerreport/
Question: How do I find out about ski outings?
Answer: Ski Outings will be posted on our Meet Up site. It’s easy to sign up and participate in an outing or you can sign up to lead a ski tour & post it on Meet Up by contacting Jay Dumas at:

Question: How will the State of Oregon Covid-19 restrictions affect SONC?
Answer: Any SONC sponsored outing will follow current Oregon/Jackson County COVID-19 guidelines. COVID-19 vaccines/boosters are encouraged and may be required by volunteer ski outing leaders.
